"Television Addict"
1979 B.G.Matthews

I sit down and see - the things on my TV -
remnants of glue - from eyes to the tube.
I pried them away - and tried to refrain -
but my soap opera's on - here I am again.

(whacked-out short instrumental of "Gilligan's Island" theme song)

Sometimes I could scream - while watching the screen -
and morons that are on it - dagnabit - doggonnit.
I throw things at my set - that I later regret - when I have to clean -
to watch the Reds and the Mets.

(whacked-out short instrumental of "Beverly Hillbillies" theme song)

I guess you'd call me a television addict - tuning in everyday and night.
Changing channels 'til I got it right - blissful viewing 'til I lose my sight.

All night movies for free - "All-In-The-Family" - game shows until noon -
and then some cartoons.
A few old re-reruns, a special 'bout guns -
I really love "Lucy" - and "The Flying Nun".

(whacked-out short instrumental of "Carol Burnett Show" ending)

My mind's been brainwashed - my nose is "Puff-Poshed" -
my antennea is broke - I'm 'bout ready to choke -
on these "Ritz" and "Cheeze-Whiz" - ain't that what it is?
Guess I flunked the "Taste Test", but I passed the "Biz Quiz".

I guess you'd call me a television addict - tuning in everyday and night.
Changing channels 'til I got it right - blissful viewing 'til I lose my sight.
