We started out that kinda-cold day
were going to go to the new library
then have some lunch at the Varsity
downtown and I was driving dad's car
But first we had to drop off clothes at the goodwill store
and the cardboard and paper at ther recycle
then at the CVS your card wouldnt work
but it worked and we went on our way
But in a little strip mall we passed some shoppes
you dediced to wait for a manicure
I waited outside smoked cigs in the cold
then came inside even in the car was too cold
Waited until you you were all done
Then stopped in a little vintage thrift store
There were no pants for me size 33
You found these skinny little black ones tho
There was a section that had other things
You said you would buy me me anything I wanted
Cant remember the other stuff but I found
a pink flamingo patio light set looked new

You said "If I buy you the Pink Flamingo Patio Lights will you really put them up?"
I thought about it and where they would go but said "yup".

Never made it to downtown like we was going to do
Went back had sister's dinner and played backgammon
Halfway through the 2nd game you didnt want to play no more
You went upstairs I talked to your mom a while
You came back down and we finished the game
It was getting later and I thought I better go, still cold
And I dont like the cold very well it was hell
But I survived the cold and don't want to do it again

You said "If I buy you the Pink Flamingo Patio Lights will you really put them up?"
I thought about it and where they would go but said "yup".

But I had to wait so I set em aside
One light was burned out but igured it out
Tried putting them up all kinds of places
Probably spent a week trying different things
Wanted to be able to see em a lot
Twisted the wires and made the line small
Came up with an idea I thought I would try
Used push-pins on the side of a paintings frame...

Otherwise it just wouldnt have seemed right
For some odd reason
So I get to turn em on and see em every day
