"California Bound"

We started out in early June of 1975 - we had to make this trip you know - had to feel alive.
All the way to California - standin' out on 70 west - we finally got a ride - now just time to bide.

Just outside of St Lou. - gettin' late at night - went up by a field to sleep - lit by the moonlight.
The next day we got some lifts, all around the town - got one then to Kansas City.

We were California bound - listen to the sound.

Stranded for two days in Kansas - rainin' most the time - picked up by some New York hippies - man they sure were nice. (freaked out on brown rice!)
Let us off in Vega, Texas - big storm headin' our way - drove all night to Albuquerque. Almost gettin' day - hope we don't have to stay.

We were California bound - listen to the sound.

Next ride from a fag from Frisco - took us all the way - to Newport Beach in Mustang Convertible - sunburned from the desert day.

We were California bound - standin' now on California ground.
