2012 January 20 : Removed the "Instruments" photo link because was bored with emails wanting to buy guitars. /flattered thank you. But ummm answer to that question has been in the |.F.A.Q.| for over five years with the answer "NO" none of the guitars are for sale! Thank you for your past and NON-future inquires. Started coding for mobile devices (ugh) and preparing for "Car Freak" link and "Rantings" link --- the latter mostly altered Lyrics-Into-Fake-Poetry from "Irritations" and the probably objectional and controversial view-points some/many/most(?) people will not "get" the artistic license and opt for themselves to become offended but that will be their own issue with which to deal. Not setting-out to intentionally hurt anyone's feelings, just going to call things as seen. The former showing the nutty-but-nice automobiles that used to be in car collection :

(NO MORE CRAZY KOOKY OLD FRENCH CARS UNTIL WIN LOTTO!) Also am getting own nice trap kit so don't have drummer bringing dirty and dusty shells over to nice clean new rehearsal space. Advisement: all but 2 guitars are off-limits no any new belt-buckle rash on any of the those two either please. Also am (so far) successful at resisting the repeated "dares" now and then to release "Irritations" album but don't really want any idiots throwing molotov [sic] cocktails over the block wall just yet (even through 4 video security system would catch them in the act...)

2012 January 05 : Nothing music - not even visiting anything to re-edit. Just holidays and too much gardening for winter flowers, hack-trim trees and shrubs, more. Too much, Only updated the Top25Tunes but a few days before xmas did a quick sketch of the little corner store visit every other day from across the street and thought would practice some more painting so did a little cartoon impression in 2 days real quick of :

"Virginia Market In Winter" (acrylic and Hyplo and heavy gel on canvas 22x28) to give to them for being such nice folks all the time. So guess shouldn't really waste new strings changings so maybe better start playing something. Something anyway. Something

2011 December 11 : Uhhh... to expland on the webmaster comment below... this is actually the 3rd attempt at trying to code and have hosted a site with the gargantuan process of organizing the music archive (there's even more - just am afraid to start digitally manipulating a bunch of old cassette tapes and getting scared and still have the rest of the reel-to-reel tape stuff to do). My first actual try was on a server in ASU using "Lynx" (text only) browser (Windoze 3.1 was just coming out and hardly anyone had it) and decided that was not going to work so gave up. Plus as new ISPs were starting to pop up did not want to use the unversity host to do it. Tried again on another but then again, simply not prepared to devote the time and wherewithal on that blossoming and problem-ridden service. Did not use - and probably could not have used a free/ad/pop-ups site anyway. Would have gotten blasted for disk space usage and bandwidth allotment restrictions. Playing in club bands every week took too much time away from recording and such. Learning all the new things that kept creeping up; scripting, CSS etc. and most of you probably do not remember how much overhead THIS site had in the beginning with tables, javascript, animated gifs and other crap that soon was to be all discarded - not because I couldn't do it or keep up with new levels of coding - just wanted to get back to basics to save time. Some have mentioned the site looks too "plain" and/or "academic" (other than the anti-status counter-culture black background) well, that is because much of the content is intended for educational use. Buddies in the multi-tracking forums know what I mean. They go through the same trials and tribulations. Most though, do not have an 8-year-old dedicated host or if they do they have professionals code their pages. I still do everything in Notepad, no helper software. Thus, my decision for the departure from too much internet social site activity so I can get back to work on recording.

2011 December 10 : By the way... (using rare first-person typing here) I want to thank those of you for the compliments and nice notes over the years (I keep them in a "Fan Letter" folder hehhh) and almost thought about putting a "Comments" link on here and displaying kind of anonymously some but I really do not like being webmaster you see... and I still have the monumental in-process task of making a shit-load of file modifications to accomodate for the increasiing number of hits from mobile devices.

2011 December 08 : Forget the other xmas tunes, got too bored. Forget the Todd covers, really not interested anymore, sounds just too corny... Will keep the data track files for some stupid reason. Closing Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, ReverbNation, TwoTrackMusic (maybe) and a few other time-wasting sites, keeping SoundClick and YouTube and a few others of course (/le sigh). In the process of remixing "Nothing" to remove 2 of the 4 color guitars parts, remixing "Sparrow" to include the 2nd color guitar part originally omitted but are not done yet... Way-Back-Burnered the evil, nasty, controversial crap on "Irritations" for when sometime maybe getting the guts to post them and offend most people. Been painting but don't have anything finished. Still editing snare drum beats on "mosterjam" and got another 100 or so done.

2011 November 06 : Needed a break from the mess of tunes tracks all over the disks. Not interested in finishing the Todd stuff or the othe xmas stuff eve though open them up on the software now and then just to see where ther aren't. Writing lame lyrics here and there in a big file. Went out and got a few new galley-wrap canvases, some paints and gel medium and practicing brush stroke the last couple of weeks since it's been over a year since painting. Took an entire week to clean and WD40 six toolboxes full of items not cleaned in years. Took an entire week cleaning over 150 ceramic and colored-glass items and the sheves and stuff they sit on. Just say "No" to anymore niknaks... And maybe a couple more xmas tunes will get done. Yuk.

2011 October 11 : Did not even update the site for last month at all. Spent entirely way too much time on five of the "Todd Dammit" tunes; tracks and tracks worth of different keys and tempos for all of them then not being able to do any justice to the vocals because his range is so wide and complicated inflections so just last week (most of the music is done) decided to try the melodies and harmonies with brass and strings and of course they come out like fast elevator music bah. "Irritations" was officially put on back burner last month - just better not to rock any boats. Some of the music is done for some of that too and thought about just publishing some of the lyrics in the lyrics frame but that's the most offensive part... Realized how terrible some of the Christmas Instrumentals Vol.2 tunes sound, especially Good Christian Men Rejoice so spent almost an entire week editing every track file for noise and crap, re-added the 4th guitar track and the 7th horn track originally omitted from the version that's been up there, there seems to be a little bit of some phantom goo that can't be fixed. Oh well it sure sounds a lot better and a couple of the other ones will get redone too. And thought about finishing 2 or 3 of the xmas vol.2 tunes started never finished. But this month started a 2012 original project titled "Keep It Simple, Stupid" which will not have mixes full of 5-part vocals, 6 guitars and too much synth. Might end of partly being offensive too though. Oh and then there's that old Monsterpiece 5:48 long jam being picked at now and then because trying to edit an estimated 700 frigging snare drum smacks is a pain and only about maybe 250 are done. Same thing with transmorgifying the site page code for small screen little by little. Works on smart phone just is clunky.

2011 August 09 : Having over a dozen projects open at once is getting frustrating and tedious... arrggg... Went ahead and uploaded a couple more old one-minute parlor guitar ideas with the silly software effects is too late to redo without so whatever... and there's a bunch more too but not sure want to clog up the yootoob channel with all this old crap... Should try something new but already have too much going on...

2011 July 09 : Record number of downloads this month and don't even do any, much at all advertising anymore/recently... however did notice a big increase in referrals and hits by domains from Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and China (!?!?!) Still struggling with what to do with all the negative tunes... making a little progress on the Todd stuff and have a half-dozen halfway done. Still taking breaks recoding the site for small-screen/mobile-phone users (chore!) /dislike being webmaster. /keep farting around with trying to get some of this old rell crap off disk and archived forever like D Flat Scat 2:25 from "Even More Machines" (1986) and a whole bunch of other little short drone jams and even more .Monsterpiece. ones since y'all seem to like those as well as more miscellaneous old jams that y'all seem to download as well... and a couple other things for the yootoob and just too many irons in the damm fire arggg...

2011 June 06 : Editing every damm snare drum hit from the mix of an old "Monsterpiece" 6 minute jam and a strange 2-minute ending to "Monsterpiece" version of "Chicken Scratch"... tedious, worth it? ehhhh... Tired of just copying the same old lines int the Top25Tunes so this month did the "Next 25 Tunes" haha... Still working on tracks to both "Irritations" (but cleaning it up a bit) and "Todd Dammit" with a few tunes for "Misadventures In Utopia" and will release chunks instead of one-by-one... (someday because doing lots of individual tracks and bad vocals over and over...)

2011 May 14 : Stayed up until 4am some nights to get these last 4 tunes out of the way, most won't notice but they do sound a lot cleaner and tighter... Aquarius (Let The Sunshine In) and Paper Cup and Last Night (I Didn't Get To Sleep At All) (with previously not included auto-panning mini-lead synth part now buried in it) and Go Where You Wanna Go and while was at it started grabbing some other track files from external drives and started re-doing even more... ack... so... since the 2-year-old muddy version of 7 Minute Jaz Jam appears in the top 10 so often, remixed it from having most of the blurry bass on the left channel and almost everything else on the right channel with too much mid EQ into blurry bass at center (sorry nothing can do about it it's on the reel-tape that way) and other stuff just a bit left with a small short delay on the right to widen it up a bit and cleaned more EQ... plus this version is 7:02 instead of the original chopped up into 6:46 and left some more of the original shit in... then... always knew that The Leaves That Are Green from Oddities And Endings couldn't discern the rhythm guitars from the color ones because they were all panned 100% left and right respectively... plus... most speakers and headphones couldn't get the lowest bass tone so used a 31-channel EQ VST to pump up the very lowest ones, still might not get it without a sub-woofer... also buried the one of the 5 vocal tracks that sounded like a cigarette cracking...

2011 May 04 : Spent entirely way too much time trying to re-edit, re-mix and re-master the rest of the tunes (only 4 left to go) from My 5th Dementia as started last year and promised would re-do them (can not believe never even edited many vocal tracks from back then; needed it...) and got Save The Country done first since it appears often in the Top25Tunes then One Less Bell To Answer because the vocals were never edited in the first place. The others are in the works and just need to do it and get it out of the way. But is interfering with 2 new originals and 2 Todd covers that are in the works with lots of track files done already.

2011 April 08 : Finally something knocked Bye Bye (Monsterpiece version (2000) out of first place in the Top25Tunes for the first time since April 2009 (one month shy of 2 years it held No.1 spot holy hell...) because Disasters was advertised and hit from a few sources. The only 2 videos uploaded at this time are another Hohner Delay Effect thing and playing the Roca along with a Todd tune :

2011 March 17 : 42 of the old guitar/camcorder videos are ok enough to put 'em on the tube if wanted to but don't want to clog it all up with crap so just a few would be sufficient until I get to some other tapes of other stuff... And getting so bored with all that started recording a Todd cover to get the sytem set-up again and then copied 5 old folders worth of raw track files from 2005/2006 to see about "finishing" them to some point - some of the music is ok.

2011 March 26 : No new recordings. Right shoulder still hurts to play guitar very long dammit... Spent all month instead processing the rest of those guitar camcorder things from way back as far as 11 years go, but many from around 2003. There were 62 clips mostly about a minute's worth of video and audio modified and compressed (a 7-step-process sheesh...) for best playback on youtube. About 2/3 of them are shit but a few am going to put up.

2011 March 06 : And in other news Disasters (Angst Unleashed 2009) reached a high of No. 11 out of 6,647 songs in the sub-genre of Alt Power Pop on SoundClick (and a high of No. 113 out of 172,564 in Alternative )

2011 March 04 :  7th   Anniversary   bgmatthews.com

2011 February 20 : Did another couple of So-As-Not-To-Forget-The-Idea videos : the Ibanez doing an almost county picking thing with delay and the final form to The Other Room on Greatest Fits 2001 and in other news Dog Poo reached a high of No. 21 out of 2,254 songs in the sub-genre of Southern Rock on SoundClick (and a high of No. 500 out of 223,776 in Rock)

2011 February 15 : Taking break from the old video stuff to start working on getting some of the new originals recorded and mixed and installed on the site. Not going to be as radical, mean and nasty as previously wanted to. However, most songs still going to be hard-ish rock criticizing certain "Irritations" (the name of the new album). In other news Hey Hey Ooh recently reached a high of No. 40 (out of 21,991 songs in the Guitar Rock sub-genre) on SoundClick

2011 February 05 : Stopped working on the Simon/Garfunkle thing - already migrated track data files off - since it was really a "2010" project anyway... Have all these old VHS and 8mm tapes with old video of music and other stuff... used to use the camcorder to record while trying to invent little ideas and such so wouldn't forget them (and be able to see what/how was being played...) Actually started it a couple years ago but needed to upgrade software before embarking on the project... Is a lot of steps in making crackly old camera sound into something decent enough to be heard on YooToob as opposed to all the tinny mono-sounding stuff on there (which some of these will still have...) Managed to get a meager few short ones done (plus one where our little dog covers himself up with his blanket) :

2011 January 06 : Got one version of Bleeker Street (2:17) out of the way - actually the 2nd one that had tracks already worked on... and since so manh tracks done on the other might as well get it out of the way as well... funny, stopped makig the Top20 Lyrics pages because was usually mostly the same ones and usually only about 3,000/4,000 per month every month but for December there was 8,000-some and not all made up from christmas...
